Located in the heart of Bromsgrove Worcestershire, we are a stone’s throw away from the High Street, in a secluded road with visitor parking available. Life at Housman is full of hustle and bustle. When you walk into Housman you will be made to feel warmly welcome with a cheery ‘hello’ and a smile.
We’re a lively home and we love to have a range of activities on offer for all our residents.
Daily Activities
Our Activities team provide a weekly timetable of activities including games, movement to music, crafting activities; pamper sessions, singing sessions and cinema evenings. A church service is also accessed by our residents who wish to attend every Sunday.
Day Trips
We regularly go out for bowling trips to a local bowling alley or out to the café at the local garden centre, and our trip to Weston-Super-Mare is a firm favourite on the calendar. Residents are supported throughout on each of these trips. We encourage our staff to spend 1:1 time with our residents having a chat over a cup of tea or reminiscing over photographs and memories. We encourage family members, particularly spouses to join us on these trips and activities where they can. Keeping the bond between you and your loved one strong and alive.
Seasonal Events
We hold in-house fairs several times a year, notably at Summer and at Christmas time which raise funds for our group activities. We love to celebrate different cultures and have had culinary feasts by holding a Greek day, Burns Night and Chinese New Year festivities but to name a few. The Housman Court staff hold a pantomime for our residents in the run up to Christmas which invokes much hilarity and fun – especially when you see our Panto Dames! We also have in-house entertainment with choirs and ukulele groups coming to perform to our residents much to their delight!
Care Provided
Living in a care home can seem like quite a daunting prospect but, our staff are fully trained and work hard to ensure that your loved ones feel happy and cared for enjoying a fulfilled life. Our staff will help your loved one settle in to their new home, and we encourage you to visit as often as you can.
Other Provisions
Housman Care ensures that your loved ones are well looked after and that medical attention continues as normal. We facilitate dental services and the opticians at regular intervals throughout the year, and extra services such as the hairdresser or chiropodist are provided by visiting professionals. We have a daily GP round and we are always in close contact with family members about any developments in health. Our Manager, Deputy and Senior staff are always on hand to discuss any questions or concerns.
Our garden is being made over with new plants and flowers ready for the summer season. Residents and their visitors are encouraged to sit in the garden to enjoy this sensory environment.
*Please note that in-house activities are free, any extra trips such as bowling, or the garden centre are chargeable.
